The pork patty is also freaking amazing, it's juicy & perfectly seasoned, sadly I can't show it to you because it's completely wrapped in the scrambled egg and when I tried to dig it looked kinda disgusting so I choose not to show it here, but you know how a patty looks like right? As for the chipotle mayo I think it's complimenting, only that it's sheer.ĭon't ask me to choose because I love both TCS and Patty Melt, and they're completely different! Patty Melt is a very American sandwich for me, it's about indulge, indulge, indulge: seared all beef patty topped with mix of mozarella & red cheddar cheese and caramelized onion all wrapped in toasted sourdough! They're super generous with the cheese, but somehow I didn't feel like it was too much or overpowering and I don't know what kind they're using but you know one of those case where cheese can interfere with the aroma and this one doesn't! The beef patty is also well seasoned and juicy and of course the sourdough is not a disappointment. TCS consist of omega 3 eggs, pork patty, cheddar, chipotle mayo, all wrapped with the fluffiest most amazing brioche buns that I've had on any burger in Jakarta and paired with potato chips for a bit of crunch, everything about TCS is pure love but I didn't expect the bun to be that soft and gorgeous! They're very generous with the scrambled eggs and it's also amazing because flavor and texture wise, it's soft and creamy, but so fresh WITHOUT any smell. The National Electrical Code (NEC) provides guidelines on the minimum conduit size required for different wire sizes. Wire Size: The size of the wires that will be installed in the conduit is a critical consideration.Let’s explore the key factors to consider: These factors will help ensure the proper functioning and safety of the electrical system. When determining the conduit size for a 100 amp service, there are several important factors that need to be taken into consideration. Certain areas may have specific requirements based on factors such as moisture, temperature, and potential exposure to chemicals or corrosive substances.īy considering these factors, electrical contractors and homeowners can determine the appropriate conduit size for their specific electrical service needs. Environmental Factors: The environment in which the conduit will be installed should also be considered.Longer conduit runs may require larger sizes to accommodate voltage drop and reduce resistance. Conduit Length: The total length of the conduit run impacts the conduit size. The NEC provides guidelines for the minimum bend radius based on the wire size to prevent excessive stress on the wires. Bend Radius: The conduit size should allow for proper bending of the wires without damaging them. The NEC specifies the maximum fill capacity for each conduit size to ensure proper spacing and prevent overheating. This includes both the hot wires and the neutral wires. Number of Wires: The number of wires that need to be installed in the conduit plays a role in conduit sizing.Wire Size: The size of the wires that will be installed in the conduit is a key factor in determining the appropriate conduit size. When determining the right conduit size for an electrical service, several factors need to be taken into consideration: On the other hand, oversized conduit may not provide adequate protection and may result in disorganized wiring. If the conduit is too small, it can lead to overheating of the wires, reduced capacity, and potential hazards. When it comes to electrical service, conduit size refers to the inside diameter of the conduit, which determines the maximum number and size of wires that can be installed within it.Ĭonduit size is crucial because it affects the overall performance and safety of the electrical system. It serves as a protective covering for the wires, safeguarding them from damage and providing a secure pathway for electrical currents. On the other hand, observers rely on observable information and may not have access to the full range of contextual details. Actors have more direct access to information about their thoughts, intentions, and situational context. The availability and salience of information can also impact the actor-observer bias. This self-serving bias helps individuals maintain a favourable view of themselves. Actors may be motivated to maintain a positive self-image and protect their self-esteem, attributing positive behaviour to internal and negative behaviour to external factors. Self-serving motivations can influence the emergence of actor-observer bias. On the other hand, observers adopt a more other-focused perspective, focusing on observable behaviour and attributing it to internal factors. Actors tend to adopt a more self-focused perspective when explaining their behaviour, considering the situational factors influencing their actions. The bias arises due to the difference in cognitive perspectives between the actor and the observer. Observers lacking this intimate knowledge may rely more on observable behaviour and attribute it to internal dispositional factors. This differential access to information can lead actors to consider external situational factors when explaining their behaviour. The following are some key factors that contribute to the emergence of the actor-observer Bias:Īctors have more access to their internal thoughts, feelings, and situational context than observers. In contrast, observers often lack the same insight and perspective, leading them to attribute behaviour more strongly to internal factors.Īctor-observer bias can be influenced by various factors that shape how individuals attribute behaviour. This bias predisposes individuals to over-emphasise dispositional factors when explaining others’ behaviour while under-emphasising situational factors.Īctors have firsthand experience of the situational factors that influence their behaviour. Consequently, they rely more heavily on observable behaviour and may attribute that behaviour to internal characteristics. Observers often have limited information about the internal thoughts and emotions of actors. When individuals assess their behaviour, they have direct access to their thoughts, intentions, and emotions, which can bias their attribution process. This additional information can lead them to attribute their behaviour to external factors more readily than observers who lack the same level of information. They may have insights into their thoughts, feelings, intentions, and external circumstances that are not readily available to observers. When explaining their behaviour, individuals often prefer attributing it to external factors to avoid taking personal responsibility or appearing flawed or incompetent.Īs actors, individuals can access more detailed information about the situational factors influencing their behaviour. People naturally tend to protect their self-image and maintain a positive view of themselves. The following are some basic causes of the actor-observer bias: The bias can lead to misunderstandings, miscommunication, and conflicts if individuals need to recognise and account for the bias in their attributions. Moreover, actors may consider these factors more extensively, leading to different attributions than observers with limited information.Īctor-observer bias can affect interpersonal relationships by influencing how individuals perceive and interpret each other’s behaviour. The bias is driven by cognitive processes involved in attribution, including salience, consistency, distinctiveness, and consensus. They consider the circumstances, constraints, and environmental influences contributing to their actions, leading to situational attribution bias. This tendency helps maintain a positive self-image and protect self-esteem.Īctors are more likely to attribute their behaviour to external situational factors. The bias often involves self-serving attributions, where individuals tend to attribute their own positive behaviour to internal, dispositional factors while negative behaviour to external, situational factors. Observers, on the other hand, lack this intimate knowledge and rely primarily on observable behaviour. Actors can access their thoughts, feelings, and situational context, shaping their understanding of their behaviour. The bias arises due to the difference in perspectives between the actor and the observer. Some people find this skill difficult at first, but as we have found in our cognitive-behavioral therapy practice, they quickly catch on. The above examples highlight the way thoughts affect our mood and our behavior: Joan had the thoughts, “I’m not appreciated here,” “My boss doesn’t know what she’s talking about,” and “It’s useless even trying to do a good job here with these knuckleheads in charge.” Joan probably had many other thoughts during the course of her hour-long interview, but these are the ones her mind singled out as most important, and as a result, she felt angry and resentful and decided that she couldn’t finish or it wasn’t worth finishing the day of work.Ĭonversely, Dante had thoughts of “It’s nice to hear I’ve improved at this,” “ She thinks I’m doing pretty well in most areas,” and “I don’t have perfect scores across every domain, but I did pretty well in most, and can definitely spend more time to improve my performance in the areas that are lacking.” These thoughts allowed him to feel more positive emotions throughout the day and, importantly, to feel motivated to be more effective. The key to understanding their differing responses is to examine their automatic thoughts about the situation. Now, there was no difference in the information given to these individuals, but there was a significant difference in how they felt afterward. When it was time to go home, he decided to spend a little more time working on a presentation he would be giving next month. Afterward, she found herself seething with rage, unable to concentrate, and eventually leaving early to have a drink at home.ĭante, on the other hand, received the same exact feedback and afterward found himself to be in a good mood the rest of the day. Joan received a performance review in which 90% of the feedback was positive, and 10% was somewhat negative. Take the following examples using the same situation of the performance review: Learning to examine these thoughts allows us to better understand and deal with our emotions, modulating them before they get too intense or overwhelming. However, in most instances, it is the automatic thoughts that play the largest role in determining how we feel, not the situation itself. Usually, we are more aware of the emotions themselves than the thoughts that trigger them. The above example highlights a very common dynamic: Automatic thoughts have the potential to trigger intense negative emotions. Despite the majority of the feedback being positive, negative filtering might cause us to perceive the review as wholly negative, triggering emotions of disappointment, sadness, or anxiety. We call this phenomenon negative filtering, which means filtering out all but the negative information. It’s not uncommon for people who have a mostly good performance review to filter out most of the praise and instead fixate on the one or two areas where there’s room for improvement. Take, for example, a pretty common experience, the job performance review. Other times, we assign meaning to something that isn’t totally grounded in the actual facts of the situation. This process works well most of the time, but sometimes, we focus on less important bits of information, filtering out the more relevant parts. It does this by focusing on certain aspects of a situation and then assigning some kind of meaning to those aspects, resulting in our thoughts and opinions about things. The brain is pretty good at filtering what it deems unimportant information and focusing on what seems most salient. Most thoughts enter and leave our minds out of our awareness. Thankfully, that’s not how our brain works. If we were to attend to each one of these, we would be overwhelmed by the flood of information. Our minds are thought-processing machines, creating and sifting through as many as 60,000 ideas in a given day. Often, we are completely unaware we are even having thoughts, but with a little instruction and practice, you can learn to easily identify them, and, as a result, get a better handle on your mood and behavior. In this book, we’ll be referring to a specific kind of thoughts that we call “automatic thoughts.” Automatic Thoughts DefinitionĪutomatic Thoughts are the thoughts that automatically arise in our minds all throughout the day. Thoughts influence much of our experience of the world, including our emotional experience. The key to understanding feelings is identifying the thoughts associated with them. Sometimes, we feel an emotion seemingly out of the blue, too strongly for what’s going on, or in a way that doesn’t seem to fit the situation at all. Some feelings may seem predictable in certain situations, but others may be puzzling. If you’re working through this book in order, you’ve been spending some time identifying and thinking about feelings. Another possible transcription is ⟨ øʷ⟩ or ⟨ eʷ⟩ (a close-mid front vowel modified by endolabialization), but that could be misread as a diphthong.įor the close-mid front protruded vowel that is usually transcribed with the symbol ⟨ ʏ⟩, see near-close front protruded vowel. One of them, Swedish, even contrasts the two types of rounding in front vowels (see near-close near-front rounded vowel, with Swedish examples of both types of rounding).Īs there are no diacritics in the IPA to distinguish protruded and compressed rounding, an old diacritic for labialization, ⟨ ̫⟩, will be used here as an ad hoc symbol for protruded front vowels. However, a few, such as the Scandinavian languages, have protruded front vowels.
